Chouetty ("the app," "we," "us") is a backgammon chouette score-keeping app for iOS and Android. This policy explains what information the app handles and how. We've tried to write it in plain language — if anything is unclear, contact us at [email protected].

The short version

Chouetty stores your data — players, chouettes, rounds, and settings — locally on your device. We don't require an account, and we don't sell your data or share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We do use Firebase Analytics for anonymous, aggregate usage measurement — see "Analytics" below for exactly what that involves.

Information you provide

None of this is transmitted to us or to any server we operate. It lives in your device's local storage, the same way a note-taking app would store your notes.

Camera and photo library

If you choose to add a photo for a player, the app requests access to your camera or photo library to let you take or select that photo. The photo is saved locally on your device and is never uploaded anywhere by us.

Analytics

Chouetty uses Firebase Analytics (a Google service) to understand, in aggregate, how the app is used — for example, how many chouettes or matches get started and completed, or whether a new feature is actually getting used. This is also connected to Google Ads so we can tell whether the ads we run are actually leading people to install and use the app.

This does not include the names of your players, the contents or scores of your chouettes and matches, your email address, or your photos. None of that is ever sent to Firebase or Google — analytics events are things like "a chouette was started" or "a round was recorded," not what happened in it. We also don't request Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission, so Chouetty doesn't track you across other companies' apps or websites.

You can see exactly what's been logged during your current app session at any time — open Settings and tap the version number at the bottom seven times to reveal the Analytics Debug Log. For more on how Firebase itself handles this data, see Firebase's privacy and security page.

Sharing, exporting, and emailing results

Chouetty lets you share results, or export a whole chouette, match, or your full backup as a file, using your device's own share sheet or mail app — so you can send it via Messages, AirDrop, email, or save it to Files, whichever you choose. This all happens directly from your device; we don't see, collect, or store the contents of anything you share or export, and none of it passes through a server we operate.

Subscriptions and purchases

Chouetty offers an optional paid subscription ("Chouetty Pro") for unlimited rounds. Purchases are processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play, and purchase/entitlement information is shared with our subscription management provider, RevenueCat, solely to verify your subscription status. We don't receive or store your payment details — that's handled entirely by Apple or Google.

What we don't do

Data deletion

Since your data lives on your device, you're always in control of it. You can delete individual players, chouettes, or photos within the app at any time, or remove all of it at once by uninstalling the app. There's no separate account for us to delete, because none exists.

Children's privacy

Chouetty is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes — for example, as the subscription feature or store integrations evolve — we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above.
